Configuration Options
Interface
This tab contains the standard interface settings.
Screen Size:
Screen size currently used, this setting adjusts the size of the interface (buttons, text, etc.) to the screen.
In this way the interface components is always large enough to read and click. This setting is especially important when you use a pen or touch screen.
Check Screen Rotation:
When this setting is enabled, MusicReader detects the rotation of the screen at start-up. When the rotation is landscape MusicReader will ask if you want to rotate the screen or display two page. If this setting is disabled two page will be shown in landscape mode.
Standard Screen Rotation:
If you have disabled "Check Screen Rotation" then this setting can be used to determine the standard display mode.
This standard display mode is used when the MusicReader is started in landscape mode.
(Only available in Version 3.0 with v. 3.0 license )
Onscreen Keyboard:
This setting determines if the onscreen keyboard is shown in the application.
Fullscreen Startup:
When this setting is enabled MusicReader will start fullscreen instead of in a standard window.
Keep Focus on Program:
The application will gain focus again when it loses it. In this way foot pedals and keyboard shortcuts will always remain active.
When this setting is disabled then the application can loose focus.
Widescreen:
Check this option when your screen is a widescreen, it will adjust the user interface of MusicReader to this type of screen.
Reposition Cursor:
If this setting is enabled the cursor will be moved automatically to the top-left of the screen when it did not move for 2 seconds.
This prevents the cursor from blocking the sheet music. It is recommended to use this option only when you use a pen or touchscreen, it is less suitable for mouse usage.
Page Turn Block:
This setting specifies the time for which the page turning should be blocked to prevent accidentally double clicks, when using keys and foot pedals. Accidental double clicks could otherwise result in more page turns then intended. To prevent this a larger block time is recommended. If you on the other hand want multiple page turns at once then you are advised to choose a small block time.
Sensitive Pen Pressure:
This setting is only useful for Tablet PC users, it makes the pen more sensitive to pressure.
With this setting you need less pressure to get a thick line.
Half Page Automatic Turn:
This setting specifies the time the half page turn should be visible, after this delay the complete page is automatically shown.
The value 0 (standard) means this features is turned off, in that case you need to turn the half page manually.
LOW VISION MODE:
A special display mode for visually impaired musicians.
This mode will:
- make the text, buttons and icons larger (only in landscape mode)
- disable the mouse cursors of the application and instead use the Windows cursors
- It will adjust the colors, the background of the menu will be lighter for higher contrast
Colors
In this tab you can change the layout of the user interface.
Menu:

Scan and import
These settings are for customizing the scan and import functionality of MusicConvert.
Scan Resolution:
This is the resolution in which new pages will be scanned. Larger resolution gives better quality, but slows down the scanning.
PDF Import Resolution:
This is the resolution in which new pages from PDF files will be imported. It is highly recommended to leave this value on 125 dpi.
Scan Interface:
When this option is enabled the standard scan-software of your scanner will be used for scanning. In this interface you can adjust the scan before sending it to MusicConvert. When this option is disabled the scan will be sent directly to MusicConvert without showing the scan interface.
Use Standard Scanner:
When this option is enabled MusicReader will always use the standard scanner on your system. If you want to choose the right scanner for each scan separately you should disable this option, then a selection box will appear each time you start a new scan.
Automatic Rotation:
This option rotates all newly scanned and imported pages to make the staffs horizontal, this enhances readability of music and the staff/measure detection capabilities.
Automatic Cut:
With automatic cut enabled all unnecessary white and black borders will be removed from the image. This results in a larger music display size. It is recommended to disable this option only when it gives problems with a specific page.
Blur before resizing:
This setting enables blurring before the image is resized during the conversion process. This can give a sharper result for some types of sheet music.
Color Import:
This setting enables import in color instead of the standard grayscale import. Please note that colored images require more memory and might slow down the program. Use this setting only if you really need it.
Standard Page Turn:
Here you can set the standard page turn for new MusicReader files or pages added to existing files.
Filename contains ID:
This means a unique number ("MRxxxxxx") will be added to the filename when you save a file in MusicConvert. This is to prevent accidental overwriting of files with the same title.
